For over 40 years, I have been involved in evangelistic, pastoral and missionary work as well as teaching.

My university training has been as a linguist (African and Semitic languages), and a theologian (with an emphasis on the Christian history of the Sudan) and Bible translator (Sudanese languages).

I have worked and done research in Egypt and the Sudan for over 30 years on a regular basis (normally about one to two months per year).

I hold two Ph.D.s (African linguistics and Protestant theology) and am a professor of Theoloy at the evangelical “Evangelische Hochschule Tabor”.

Presently, most of my work is done on the platform of “Zinzendorf-Institute”, which we are building up with an emphasis on mentoring younger leaders, spearheading and supporting projects such as Bible exhibitions for 2017 (sponsored by Museum of the Bible, Washington DC), and engaging in various projects internationally.

The Bible exhibitions “Unser Buch – die Geschichte der Bibel von Mose bis zum Mond” / “Our Book – The Story of the Bible from Moses to the Moon” – in Augsburg (April/May 2017) and Wittenberg (May-September 2017), which I curated, has been visited by over 60.000 visitors.

Also, I am speaking, teaching and preaching regularly both in our home church and across the board of churches both in Germany and internationally, in over 30 countries.

My first visit to Georgia was in December 1991, as University Evangelist of the German Student Mission (SMD). Then I was invited to speak at the Tiflis Central Baptist church (now Peace Cathedral). I was impressed by the full church in the Georgian worship, and also by the fact that there were other language services such as in Armenian, Russian and Ossetian.

Over the years, I have been able to visit the brothers and sisters of the Cathedral and the entire Baptist Union, and a deep friendship between many members of Christus-Treff Marburg and the Baptist Union has developed. There have been many visits both by teams from Marburg in Georgia, and also by me, and many young people and leaders from Georgia have come to large events such as the Christival Youth Congresses in Dresden, Kassel and Bremen, and of course to Marburg. We have had several interns from Georgia with us in Marburg. The friendship and partnership with all the bishops and people of the Baptist Union, starting with my friendship with Malchaz, has been a great source of encouragement and spiritual blessing to us. On the occasion of our 25^th anniversary of Christus-Treff in 2007, bishops Ilia and Merab presented me with an episcopal cross of the Georgian Baptist Church, which we have taken as a sign of our deep connection and mutual support.

It is our prayer that the presence of Jesus in the midst of His people may continue to be experienced in the Peace Cathedral, and the entire church in Georgia. May your common life together and you mission to the people around flow out of the experience of God’s holiness, truth and love. And may you grow in your mission, and in faith, hope and love.

Central to our experience is how the apostle Paul describes his ministry:

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.

2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.

4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”1 made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Christus-Treff-თემის წინამძღოლი (მარბურგი, ბერლინი, იერუსალიმი)

40 წელზე მეტია ვმსახურებ როგორც პასტორი და მისიონერი, ისევე, როგორც მასწავლებელი.

უნივერსიტეტში ვისწავლე ლინგვისტიკა (აფრიკული და სემიტური ენები), თეოლოგია (ქრისტიანობის ისტორია სუდანში) და ბიბლიის თარგმანი ( თარგმანი სუდანურ ენაზე).

30 წელზე მეტი ვიმუშავე და ვაწარმოე კვლევები ეგვიპტესა და სუდანში (დაახლოებით ორი სამი თვე ყოველ წელს).

დავიცავი ორი სადოქტორო – აფრიკულ ლინგვისტიკასა და პროტესტანტულ თეოლოგიაში. ვარ ასევე “Evangelische Hochschule Tabor”-ის  თეოლოგიის პროფესორი.

ამჟამად ვმუშაობ ზინზენდორფის ინსტიტუტის ფლატფორმის ფარგლებში, რომელიც მოიაზრებს ახალგაზრდა წინამძღოლების მენტორობას. ასევე ბიბლიის გამოფენა 2017 წეს ( ვაშინგტონის ბიბლიის მუზეუმის მხარდაჭერით) და სხვადასვა საერთაშორისო პროექტების განხორციელება.

ბიბლიის გამოფენას  “Unser Buch – die Geschichte der Bibel von Mose bis zum Mond” / ‘ჩვენი წიგნი, ბიბლიის ამბავი მოსედან მთვარემდე“ – აუსბურგში (აპრილი-მაისი 2017), რომელსაც მე ვკურირებდი, ჰყავდა 60 000 მნახველზე მეტი.

გარდა ამისა, რეგულარულად ვასწავლი და ვქადაგებ ერთის მხრივ ჩემს საოჯახო ეკლესიაში და ასევე ჩვენს მეგობარ ეკლესიებში როგორც გერმანიაში, ასევე მის საზღვრებს გარეთ (30 ქვეყანაზე მეტი).

მე პირველად საქართველოს ვესტუმრე 1991 წლის დეკემბერში, დროგორც გერმანიის სტუდენტური მისსის ფარგლებში. ამ ვიზიტისას მიმიწვიეს სიტყვის სათქმელად თბილისის ცენტრალურ ბაპტისტურ ტაძარში (ახლა უკვე მშვიდობის კათედრალში).  შთამბეჭდავი იყო სავსე ეკლესია ქართულ მსახურებაზე და ასევე ისიც, რომ იყო როგორც რუსულ ენოვანი, ასევე სომხური და ოსური თემები.

წლების მანძლზე ვსტუმრობდი მეც და ჩემი მეგობრებიც მარბურგის Christus-Treff წარმომადგენლები  ჩემს ძმებს და დებს როგორც კათედრალში, ასევე მთელი ქვეყნის მასშტაბით ბაპტისტურ ეკლესიებს. ჩამოვდიოდით ხოლმე როგორც გუნდი, ისევე როგორც ინდივიდუალური ვიზიტორები. ასევე საქართველოდან გვსტუმრობდნენ როგორც წინამძღოლები, ასევე ახალგაზრდებიც ისეთ ღონისძებებზე, როგორიცაა ახალგაზრდული კონგრესი ‘Christival’ დრეზდენში, კასელსა და ბრემენში – და რა თქმა უნდა მარბურგში. მარბურგში გვყავდნენ ქართველი ინტერნებიც. საქართველოს ბაპტისტური ეკლესიის ეპისკოპოსებთან მეგობრობა, რომელსახ საფუძველი ჩაუყარა ეპისკოპოსმა მალხაზ სონღულაშვილმა, ჩვენთვის იყო და არის დიდი კურთხევა და გამხნევების წყარო. Christus-Treff-ის 25 წლის იუბილეზე 2007 წელს ეპისკოპოსი ილია და მერაბი გვეწვივნენ და გადმომცეს საქართველოს ბაპტისტური ეკლესიის ჯვარი, რომელიც მივიღე, როგორც ჩვენი მეგობრობისა და ურთიერთმხარდაჭერის ლამაზი სიმბოლო.

ჩემი სურვილი და ლოცვაა, რომ ქრისტე იყოს მშვიდობის კათედრალისა და მთელი საქართველოს ეკლესიის გულში. დაე იყოს ეს ეკლესია იყოს მოწმობა უფლის სიწმიდის, ჭეშმარიტებისა და სიყვარულისა. და გისურვებთ თქვენს საქმიანობაში იზრდებოდეთ რწმენაში, იმედსა და სიყვარულში.

როგორც პავლე მოციქული ამბობს თავისი მსახურების შესახებ

1. ამიტომ, რაკი ასეთი მსახურება გვეწყალობა, არ ვცხრებით, 2. არამედ უარს ვამბობთ სამარცხვინოს დაფარვაზე და ცბიერი ქცევით ღმერთის სიტყვებს კი არ ვამახინჯებთ, არამედ ჭეშმარიტების გამოვლენით წარვუდგენთ თავს ყველა ადამიანის სინდისს ღმერთის წინაშე. 3. თუ ჩვენი სახარება დაფარულია, დაღუპულთათვის არის დაფარული, 4. ურწმუნოთათვის, ვისაც ამ საუკუნის ღმერთმა დაუბრმავა გონება, რათა მათთვის არ გაბრწყინებულიყო სახარების ნათელი ქრისტეს დიდებისა, რომელიც უხილავი ღმერთის ხატია. 5.

რადგან ჩვენს თავს კი არ ვქადაგებთ, არამედ ქრისტე იესოს, უფალს, ჩვენს თავს კი თქვენს მონებად მივიჩნევთ იესოს მიერ. 6. რადგან ღმერთმა, რომელმაც ბრძანა, რომ ნათელი ბნელიდან გამობრწყინებულიყო, მან გაანათა ჩვენს გულებში, რათა გაგვინათოს ღმერთის დიდების ცოდნის ნათელმა ქრისტეს პირისახეში. 7. ეს განძი კი ჩვენ გვაქვს თიხის ჭურჭლებში, რათა გადამეტებული ძლიერება ღმერთისაგან იყოს და არა ჩვენგან.
