I was born in Telavi, East Georgia. After graduating from School I moved to Tbilisi where I studied at Physics at the Tbilisi State University. It was the time when I became close to Peace Cathedral.

After graduating from the University I moved to the States to obtain my Doctor’s Degree. And I have lived here for more than 7 years with my family: my wife Nino and two children – Tamar and Vajha.

I want to greet Peace Cathedral wholeheartedly. This is the Church that keeps the door open for everybody despite his or her ethnic, religious or social backgrounds. The main concern of the church is to give everybody love and care.  This is the church where empathy and advocating for the vulnerable is never on the second place. This is the place, where people find peace.

Peace Cathedral became a second home for me when I was a student in Tbilisi and the time I spend with them will always stay with me. I made friends and I have learnt to see the world from the different perspective.

For the last 20 years the church has undergone through important transformation process and became more open, more modern and socially active. I was part of some of these difficult and painful reforms and that was a unique experience for me.

I want to distinguish the vision and tireless work of the leader of the church  Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili. I am proud to say that he is my friend and my mentor. I had pleasure to visit Georgia and together with my wife we attended the Christmas Service at the Peace Cathedral. This was unforgettable Christmas Night with beautiful liturgy, Christmas play and Christmas festival.

I pray God to give Peace Cathedral strength to continue the work they have been doing until today, to stay innovative all the time and be adequate to the modern challenges. I wish this place always to be the place where everyone can find inner peace, peace with God and peace with the universe.

The most important experience of my life is that very often the biggest changes happen thanks to very little acts. Sometimes little is much. I think this kind of relativism occupies an important place in Christian thinking – where the last is the first and when two lepta is more than billions.

დავიბადე და სკოლა დავამთავრე თელავში. სტუდენტობა გავატარე თბილისში, სადაც ვსწავლობდი სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტში ფიზიკის ფაკულტეტზე. სწორედ ამ პერიოდში დავუახლოვდი მშვიდობის კათედრალს. უნივერსიტეტის დამთავრების შემდეგ, სწავლის გასაგრძელებლად გავემგზავრე ამერიკაში. სადოქტორო დისერტაციის დაცვის შემდეგ, ბოლო 7 წელია ვმუშაობ ენერგიის დეპარტამენტის ერთ-ერთ სამეცნიერო-კვლევით ლაბორატორიაში. მყავს მეუღლე და ორი შვილი – თამარი და ვაჟა.

გულითადად ვულოცავ მშვიდობის კათედრალს 150 წლისთავს. ეს არის ეკლესია, რომლის კარიც ღიაა ყველა ადამიანისთვის, განურჩევლად ეთნიკური, რელიგიური თუ სოციალური წარმომავლობისა. სადაც მთავარი საზრუნავი არის სიკეთისა და სიყვარულის უანგაროდ გაცემა ყველას მიმართ. სადაც ემპათია და დაჩაგრულის გამოსარჩლება არასოდეს იწევს უკანა პლანზე. ეს არის ადგილი, სადაც ადამიანს შეუძლია სიმშვიდე იპოვოს.

ჩემთვის მშვიდობის კათედრალი მეორე სახლად იქცა სტუდენტობის წლებში და წარუშლელი კვალი დატოვა. დავუმეგობრდი ბევრ ადამიანს და სხვა თვალით, განსხვავებული პერსპექტივით შევხედე ბევრ რამეს.

ბოლო ოცი წლის მანძილზე ეკლესიამ განიცადა ძალიან მნიშვნელოვანი ტრანსფორმაცია და გახდა ბევრად უფრო ღია, თანამევდროვე და სოციალურად აქტიური. ამ რთული და ხშირად მტკივნეული რეფორმების ნაწილი ჩემს თვალწინ ხდებოდა და ესეც ჩემთვის უნიკალური გამოცდილება იყო.

მინდა გამოვყო ეკლესიის წინამძღოლის, ეპისკოპოს მალხაზ სონღულაშვილის, მომავლის ხედვა და დაუღალავი შრომა ამ ყველაფერში. მეამაყება რომ მალხაზი არის ჩემი მეგობარი და მენტორი. გასულ წელს ბედნიერება მქონდა მეუღლესთან ერთად დავსწრებოდი საშობაო ღვთისმსახურებას მშვიდობის კათედრალში. ეს იყო ნამდვილად დაუვიწყარი შობის ღამე თავისი ლიტურგიით, სპექტაკლით და საშობაო ფესტივალით.

მშვიდობის კათედრალს ვუსურვებდი მომავალშიც, ისევე როგორც აქამდე, მუდმივად განახლებაზე ეჭიროს თვალი და არ ჩამორჩეს დროს. ვუსურვებდი რომ ყოველთვის იყოს ადგილი სადაც ადამიანი იპოვის სიმშვიდეს საკუთარ თავთან, ღმერთთან და სამყაროსთან.

მნიშვნელოვანი გამოცდილება: ალბათ ერთ-ერთი ყველაზე საინტერესო დაკვირვება/გამოცდილება ისაა, რომ ხშირად დიდი ცვლილებები პატარა, ერთი შეხედვით უმნიშვნელო საქმეების კეთებით ხდება შესაძლებელი. ზოგჯერ ცოტა ბევრია. ქრისტიანობაშიც ცენტრალური ადგილი უჭირავს ამ რელატივიზმს. ზოგჯერ უკანასკნელი პირველია. ზოგჯერ ორი ლეპტა მილიარდზე მეტია.
